Plumbing systems

We all know that plumbing involves piping water and gas around our homes - but not all of us are aware of how many different aspects there are to the plumbing in their homes. The sorts of plumbing systems you might see in an average home include hot water systems (and water supply systems in general), drain waste vent systems to remove waste water, and gas fuel systems. Depending on where you live, you may also have a septic system, a bore water system or a rainwater system.

Because all the piping's normally hidden from view, people often aren't aware of just how complex these systems can be. Hot water systems, for instance, can operate using multiple fuel sources, and can also be made to heat the home using under-floor piping. Rain water and grey water systems can be set up so that every last drop of waste water from your shower or basin can go onto the garden.

Knowing what sorts of systems are installed in your home will not only help you to maintain everything properly, but it'll also give you a finer appreciation for just how important a part of you home plumbing actually is.

Bore water systems

In some remote locations, it's easier and more economical to pump water out of a ground bore than it is to connect to a water supply network. Find out what's involved, and what sorts of issues need to be considered.
